Blue Bags

Anyone remember Reckitt's Blue used in washing and also for bee stings etc.
Wonder if it would cure a nasty purple rash?

Re: Blue Bags

I do recognise the name Reckitt's but I don't think I have ever used it.

Is that the same stuff as Dolly Blue used to get whites whiter?

Re: Blue Bags

I think my Mum or Gran used them.
I seem to remember they calmed down bee stings.
Purple rash?? That is worrying.

Re: Blue Bags

A purple rash needs looking at. Could be impetigo.
Blue bags , yes I remember them. Mum always used them for the whites, followed by starch in of collars and cuffs and pillowcases. Not so much for the look of the starched things but she said the dirt lifted off easier.

Yes I remember them. My Nana had to use one on me a few times back in the 50s, I was good at attracting wasps....... Shudder.
