A bit of a disaster.

Hi

Living room, three walls painted yesterday, the other one was papered.

I bought some masking tape, Frogtape, advertised for delicate surfaces to provide a neat edge to the wallpaper.

It was expensive at 5.90 a roll.

It is been up for less than 24 hours and when taken off this morning, very gently, it has damaged the wallpaper.

At 45 a roll, this is not good.

The previous owner did leave some, but the pattern match is such she did not leave enough.

Did you get the tape designed for use on wallpaper? The one marked Low Tack. I made that mistake a few months ago but realised before i got round to using it.

Had a similar problem last year with that, we took pictures and sent it back and they gave us our money back, did mean we could buy new wallpaper. But I would never trust it again.

Re: A bit of a disaster.

Frog tape is rubbish Swim, and most masking tapes leave an unsatisfactory edge. Use hand and eye coordination instead....Or paint up to an edge, like a sheet of card and keep moving it down.

Re: A bit of a disaster.

I have used Frog tape with great success when joining paint to paint but don't think I have ever tried it with wallpaper. The answer with all tape is to remove it immediately after painting and not leave it in over night.

Frog tape is alright if you're jumping from one job to another...

I'd strip the wallpapered wall and paint it instead.
