Bret mentioned John Wayne’s walk on another thread.
I’m following Spitty’s bike thread with great interest, but I don’t want to barge into it with something that is far from bikes or the assembly of same, so I’ll stick this important message here instead.

I would just like to make a quick announcement concerning a forthcoming treat for any pint guzzlin’ Dubliners who may peep in here.

After watching all of the westerns that John Wayne ever made during lockdown I can now proudly announce that I have truly mastered the real John Wayne walk, albeit I was good at it as a young man but now I am an expert.

Over many years I have watched dozens of feeble imitators perform on stage and in pubs, but they could never really get it right, I discovered that it’s all in the hips and the feet.

Norra lorra people know that the John Wayne walk is an art form in itself, he developed it himself and it’s taken very seriously by the members of JWWPS (John Wayne Walk Protection Society) of Winterset Iowa, the town where Wayne was born, I joined in 1985 and I’m member number 3856 therefore I am officially entitled to perform the walk privately, publicly, and in all public open spaces, believe me it’s tougher to do a good John Wayne walk than a space walk as my old friend Neil Armstrong used to say.

As soon as the Dublin wet pubs open I intend to feature the walk on Saturday nights up in the local, I’ll include it in my John Wayne impersonation sketch entitled “Teh Hell Ya Will”.
I’ve already spoken to the gaffer and he’s having posters printed as soon as he’s given a firm date to reopen.

I appear on the small 18”+12” posters dressed as a cowboy sitting on a horse whirling a lasso above me head while rolling a smoke in the other hand, no mean feat that, actually none of my feet are mean, they are both a generous size nine. (note: one whirls a lasso, one does not swing, sway, twist, wriggle. or roll a lasso.)
I’ll keep ya’ll posted on this thread.
Sorry but my contract with the pub management forbids using any photographs without their written permission.

Oh excuse me, the wife just walked in.
“Phyllis, are you sure you gave me the right tablets after me tea?, the green ones?, not the little red lads, you know how they effect me, I’m starting to get a bit dizzy now, think I’ll have a little lie down.”

yes but wasn't he a cross -dresser ? - how do they walk in high heels? God the thought terrifies me - john wayne in high heels and that funny walk!!

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Normally I can only do the Jaaaahn Wayne walk when I have thrown my back out. You are right Jem, it's definitely all in the hips.

You may have heard of, or even participated in a Talk like a Pirate day, ha-harr, but at work we used to have a Talk like a John Wayne day, of course, as well as Talk like the copper from Allo Allo, and Talk in Franglais day.

Management were not amused.

I am preparing a couple for sale at a moderate profit, to fund a bit more of the Bomber, there is some money to be made in "Recycling".
