new names for clothes

I've been wearing "Onesies" for years. Lots of people round here wear them - construction workers, oil workers, farmers, car mechnics etc... I recall that in Finland, students would wear them to parties etc. and the colour indicated the faculty they belonged to.

Of course, we called them "Boiler suits" as there was no such word as "onesie".

Consider also, the ads. on TV for 'Shapewear' . Can't fit into that little black number? - try wearing a 'body shaper'.
Now, I seem to remember not so long ago, these were called 'girdles', 'corslettes' etc..

So, do we need to keep invening new names for existing clothes? A pair of "handies" (gloves) perhaps?

Shape wear is very different to corselets or girdles and surely boiler suits are different to fleecy onesies ? My Dad was a welder I think his boiler suit would not have taken off as easy to lounge in wear, they are far more like giant baby grows.

I'm sure onesies were called siren suits many years ago.

You would not catch me dead in a onesie, would look like a bag of ferrets trying to escape

I love my fleecy, cozy onesie! Like being cuddled by your clothes! But, some things never change!...
