Lost for words!

Is the dictionary sexist towards women?

That is the title of a BBC news item I have just seen. I wonder how long it will be before dictionaries become victim of the regular drive towards the gender 'equality' we see in other areas of life?

Possibly that will lead to even more problems with creating text when spell checkers are involved, although it should be 'interesting' to say the least!

Re: Lost for words!

The BBC was at it again this morning at 5.30am, trying to level the gender board member playing field, apparently the fairer sex now occupy 87% of the boardroom space, good for them, there may soon be an end to it.

Just a little early for me spitfire, by about three or four hours!

Let's hope for an early end to it, things do get a bit much all the time.
Something like another area that's always in the news lately.

It will be interesting though to see how languages fare in all this,
many are full of "grammatical gender":

Re: Lost for words!

I am upset that the word "she" includes "he" in it but "he" doesn't include "she".

We need to cancel language.

Well, that would solve the problem as there could then be
no reference to those words – brilliant solution!

Re: Lost for words!

Another riveting BBC programme to miss is 'It's time to talk about race' a documentary by Naga Munchetty. The lovely Naga attempts to stir up even more of a racial divide in Britain by jumping on the bandwaggon and banging on about stuff.
