I wouldn't say 'their usually, unfocussed, untrained owners' as there must be many car owners who are very good and careful drivers, plus of course many ex-motorcyclists like myself who do take a lot of care on the roads due to previous experience gained on motorcycles.
I agree with you Baz, as far as ex bikers are concerned, but
I stand by my comments regarding car drivers for the
following reasons. How many drivers have been bikers.
How many drivers are under 30 yrs old
How many drivers drive using a cell phone
How many drivers passed their test first time
How many drivers are over 65yrs
How many drivers with stereo music on full blast

Yes, a bikers profile is less than a cars, but car drivers know
they are sharing the roads with bikes, they should excercise
more alertness when turning or pulling out.
Sure, bikers can also improve their behaviour by obeying
speed limits, not changing direction rapidly in traffic etc.
I think the sheer volume of cars as compared to bikes
is what causes the problem.
However, enough of that, lets be glad we had the chance
to get into biking at all.

Best Regards, Donkeyman.

Yes, there are definitely a lot of cars on the roads nowadays. I checked to see just how many there were in 2017, the answer is surprising, especially compared to the number of motorcycles there were.

"Although there were many more cars than motorcycles, there was a greater increase in the number of motorcycles. In 2017, the number of registered cars was 31.2 million while the number of registered motorcycles was 1.23 million."

I enjoyed that chance, those were some of the best years, other than two accidents of course. Both involved car drivers who did not look properly so I know first-hand what you mean about some car drivers.

Thanks for the stats Baz, l was surprised at the difference
between the two figures myself
I think it confirms my thinking,
I also beleive aall drivers should ride a bike before getting
getting a car licence
As they would learn so much more about road conditions
and focus than a car could
I also wrote a bike off and got injured due to a car turning
Across in front of me.

Think like a Biker, Donkeyman.

AJS 7R on the road which l had vague plans to race over
there.Not to be i'm afraid.

All the best. Donkeyman.

PS, the cops were different then

My thoughts too, nothing like riding a motorcycle to find out what keeps it on the road.

Hope the accident injuries sustained don't cause you too many problems nowadays.

Only bikers or ex-bikers know this experience.

But they've made it so complicated to get a bike licence now that it will put people off, that's their plan I think. I also think it's the reason for the increase in trikes

Thanks for promt reply, l wasextremely lucky, Baz, as helmets
were not compulsary then, and l was wearing a wooly
hat, with a bobble on top,so apart from broken nose and
fingers, and sevaral deep lacerations l was ok, surprising
realy, as l flew for about 20 metres before somersaulting
and landing on my back.
However, l persevered with biking and ,eventually managed
to drive a secondhand Vincent Rapide wih matching J80
sidecar, complete with wife, from London to Athens.
I can tell you more about this if it wont bore you.

Best regards Donkeyman.

Hi Ray, isthat you on the trike? Ive wanted one of those
for the last decade or so is it BMW? what are they like
to drive,?
You could be right, it could be a good starter for car
drivers instead of bikes.
saw a woman on one pulling out of Tescos, looked like
the front wheels tilted to me

Re: Moto Gp v F1

The new F1 and Moto season is allready underway and
it looks like the car boys have jacked their act up!
They dont seem to be so grudging towards their rivals
successes, and they appear to be a bit more adventurous
when overtaking!
I think they have been taking lessons from the bikers!
I know Hamilton has had a couple of bike tests for sure!
On the bike front the new V4 Duke has been struggling
to compete and Suzuki have made a good showing
However in BSB the new Duke is cleaning up so far!
Looks like a good season ahead!

Regards Donkeyman!
