Are you a shopping snob?

Primark. Home Bargains. B&M. Aldi. McDonalds. Asda George.

Are you the sort of person who turns their nose up and 'wouldn't be seen dead' in budget stores and eateries?
Are you afraid people you know may look down on you in disdain as if you are strapped for cash or even dirty in your appearance?
Will you only shop at upmarket supermarkets and eat in quaint tea rooms?

Or are you quite happy to do your shopping in these places for practical reasons - sensibly buying cheaper goods, convenience, etc?

I must say as an example that I do not believe in being ripped off and I'll buy my goods cheaper if possible, though I don't travel an extra five miles to buy a bottle of shower gel because it's 25p cheaper somewhere else.
I have recently started shopping regularly at Aldi as I like their products, which are an interesting change from the norm you get from the 'big 4' supermarkets.

Thoughts on this?

Re: Are you a shopping snob?

I don’t mind where I shop, bought stuff from all those shops, although mrs p doesn’t like the foods from Aldi/Lidl, although I don’t mind it, have bought tools from them in the past,
I’ll quite happily go into B&m, ect, or Waitrose, John Lewis, don’t bother me....

Re: Are you a shopping snob?

I need a new potatoe masher as the cheap old plastic one I've got leaves the mash lumpy so I said to a friend yesterday

" I'll go and buy a good quality one from home bargains "

I still dont know why my friend shrieked with laughter

Aldi is excellent. I do most of my food shopping there. A few things they don't stock so I pop in to Tesco or other shops just for those things.

Re: Are you a shopping snob?

I think I am a 'reverse' snob.

You won't find me shopping at Marks & Spencers. Their standards have gone totally downhill in my opinion.

When in London I shopped for food at Harrods & Selfridges just for the novelty of it but it was no better than Tesco.

I use all the stores you mention Floydy.

We go for quality every time.

That doesn't have anything to do with price but everything to do with complying with our requirements.

You'd be surprised at the quality of some of the chilled foods at Aldi actually. Plus, they give a generous portion in their packaging too, especially their fish products

Re: Are you a shopping snob?

Our weekly supermarket shopping is done in Asda but we buy M&S wholemeal bread from the garage mini-market over the road because we like more than Asda's own.

I've got clothes with the George label on them. Also whatever brand Peacocks does. Good enough quality for me.

The only item I spend more than necessary on to get better quality is footwear.

I have eaten in McDonald's a few times because the family likes to go there but don't go out of choice because I'm not that keen on burgers. I prefer Greggs for fast food.

Hi

I am not surprised by your post.

I get my whiskey at Lidl.
