Dangerous Dan?

Memories of my youth!, I expect you have all read this
one, it takes me back to my teanage days and drunken
parties in my Aunty Eva's front room!

Re: Dangerous Dan?

I love that old poem Donkeyman, it brought back happy memories of when my Dad would recite it when he had a few jars on him on a Saturday night, rest his soul he would do all the actions as if he was on the London Palladium.
Thanks for posting it.

Re: Dangerous Dan?

I had not read that poem so thank you DM but it did remind me of one of Jems posts from early scribbler days which made me grin at the time as my Father also told this one on the rare occasion he got squiffy. Mind you thanks to the drink, the poem usually had him flummoxed in the saying as much as it did for us listening

One fine day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight,
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other,
One was blind and the other couldn't, see
So they chose a dummy for a referee.
A blind man went to see fair play,
A dumb man went to shout "hooray!"
A paralysed donkey passing by,
Kicked the blind man in the eye,
Knocked him through a nine inch wall,
Into a dry ditch and drowned them all,
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And came to arrest the two dead boys,
If you don't believe this story’s true,
Ask the blind man he saw it too!

Glad it can still raise a laugh DM. What made it so comically memorable for us was it was years later that I eventually learned that the Nonsense poems words were as they were written as we kids thought at the time the drink had effected the way they were said.

Happy little memory.
