Those were the days - listening to two-way family favourites while mum, was getting the Sunday dinner ready, and listening to the messages from service men and women posted abroad on the BFPO system.
Firmly linked in my mind to Sunday mornings listening on an ancient battery radio (we had gas but no electricity) with roast beef/overcooked vegetables/rice pudding for lunch it was always the same thing.
If the battery was going we all had to sit close to the radio to listen
Ah yes I remember it well - Messages & music requests from home to our servicemen in Germany and other places. Jean Metcalf & Cliff Michelmore were the first to host it I think.
I have memories of Sunday dinner cooking while this was on the wireless.
