"Shock EU report" ? Give me a break.

What exports? Dyson prefers to relocate to a 44m property in Asia to be closer to his export market than to stay here. He doesn't like the EU's environmental targets. Having more powerful hoovers is no doubt more important than the planet.

What I've noticed is that we are not that good at importing from the EU. Take wine for example. Why the heck can't we buy the decent wine in the supermarket that we have in Italy, France and Spain when we go on holiday? Why is it we have this crud from the US and other parts of the world when the EU is next door? How can it possibly be cheaper to import fermented sewage from the other side of the world? Can someone explain to me why a bottle of really amazing plonk costs next to nothing in Portugal or Italy and we pay through the nose for rubbish here?

We can buy whatever we want from wherever we want.

After we've left the EU, the same will apply. The only difference is that the EU may try to punish us by applying punitive tariffs which will make their products more expensive.

We shall still be able to buy them, but consumers will have the option of buying expensive from them or cheap from elsewhere. That's personal choice.

I suspect that once this pantomime is over, we shall find ourselves trading with them again at mutually acceptable rates. That's up to them, of course, if they want to play silly!

Because EU imports thousands of refridgerated tanks of wine
stock from places like SA, who eu adds a significant tariff to
so it does compete with eu producers, this tariff goes l
suppose directly to the eu commission or their agents for their
benefit and not for the benefit of the general populace Annie!
Thus, the comission makes a profit from importing wine and
using that wine to mix with crud they produce in eu to improve
it, so that wine snobs like yourself will drink it!

Yes it is a rather strange sensation. Going to germany to buy a good, but cheap, bottle of whiskey for less than € 7 (£ 6).
But it seems that the UK is producing enough wine to serve the british market, but that wine is exported. For british consumption you import australian, argentinian, south african wines.

If we reject the WA they have negotiated with us they will apply the same tariffs that they apply to all third countries with whom they don’t have a trade deal. That is not punishing us it is the result of the stupidity of those who thought that they need us more than we need them and we can have our cake and eat it

Today the European Commission published the 2019 edition of the Single Market Scoreboard.
https://ec.europa.eu/growth/content/...reboard-out_en
The scoreboard provides a detailed overview of how EU single market rules were applied in the European Economic Area (EEA) in 2018; how open and integrated certain markets are; and how much EU countries*contributed to a number of EU tools to make the single market function better.

The UK's performance you can find here http://ec.europa.eu/internal_market/...x_en.htm#trade.
We dont need all the data your links provide Solly, all we need
is the end result of all that, which your links do not reveal, and
that end result is a deficit of + - £ 80B in favour of eu not
including our membership fees! and increasing!!!

We are clearly doing something wrong now if we cannot buy decent cheap plonk in the shops. How can a bottle cost the same from NZ as it does from France? Why can't we supply the shops with affordable lamb from Wales when it's so cheap from NZ? Why do you think we can fix such anomalies by leaving? It's clearly something wrong here rather than in the EU. Some things are just not worth importing and exporting, for others we are being totally conned.
