Yes but what do the figures tell you? Whatever figures there are, they all send the same message that there are other barriers to trade here. There are reasons why we are not doing as well as we should and they are like road bumps set by our own system. Can nobody else see this?

You are making an Ass of yourself. The EU does not import anything.

Yes, of course it's something wrong here.

They're called politicians!

And don't forget that most of them are supporters of the EU to the detriment of their own country.

What exports? Dyson prefers to relocate to a 44m property in Asia to be closer to his export market than to stay here. He doesn't like the EU's environmental targets. Having more powerful hoovers is no doubt more important than the planet.

What I've noticed is that we are not that good at importing from the EU. Take wine for example. Why the heck can't we buy the decent wine in the supermarket that we have in Italy, France and Spain when we go on holiday? Why is it we have this crud from the US and other parts of the world when the EU is next door? How can it possibly be cheaper to import fermented sewage from the other side of the world? Can someone explain to me why a bottle of really amazing plonk costs next to nothing in Portugal or Italy and we pay through the nose for rubbish here?
Good point
While in Spain I drink a very nice red it costs €4.25.
I was pleased to see iit in Tesco except it was £9 a bottle on offer.
A good white can be had for about €3

I don't buy that. There's far more to it. Self interest plays a large part in it. Something to do with distribution networks in the UK. We are very inflexible inside the UK.

Isn't that all about our own taxes?

And look at the price of petrol. Most of that is tax!

Personally, I think the government would make money by replacing petrol tax with 'bicycle frame tax'!

How about your petrol? For E95 I have to pay here € 1.65/liter. Just over the border in germany it is € 1,37/liter.
I suppose britain has lower prices?

Btw in germany I pay €1,65 for a good bottle of merlot. ( at kaufland, aldi or lidl)

Re: UK benefits least

Things are cheaper in the Eurozone because of the massive amounts of unemployment. Nobody can afford the luxury items like we can here.

Odd thing is, in the Eurozone you get goods costing different amounts depending where you live. In Germany a magazine is something like 6Eu but the same magazine in Greece is something like 5.50Eu.

So some countries Euros are worth more than others.
