I'd go with asters too, or rudbeckia, perennial phlox or even himalayan balsam (in which case I'd burn them).Would have to be a perennial to have old growth left on it.
Let us know what they turn into Art!

I spent about an hour yesterday trying to identify your plant Art but couldn't come up with anything conclusive. The way the leaves grow from the base look a bit like a lily of some sort but more like a peace lily. But then a peace lily doesn't have serrated leaves? I dunno!

Here is a pic of them in flower for the first time and l did see similar in a garden centre the other day. They were labelled ‘Asters’.
