Re: leaf collection time again

We use a stihl leaf blower to gather them up , then put them in a trailer and burn them all in a big fire. Before we used to rake and use a wheel barrow but our property is quite large and it’s become a bit too much to do. The leaf blower is a total game changer

Council does ours they will wait for wettest or windiest day then turn up with a leaf blower and make such a noise for hours at a time. At the moment the oak is just dropping acorns not leaves but the flowering cherry lost its leaves very early this year.

I wait for a good strong wind. Gale force, preferably, to blow them all away.

small lightweight and easy to star. Don't think they are available any more to buy, but it does my garden a treat.

I've only got a small garden and the only leaves that drop are off the Boston Ivy. Most of those fall into the shrubbery, where they can stay!

The rest I sweep up and bin.

They make good compost don't they?
I collect Autumn leaves, pretty ones, press them, laminate them, cut them out and hang them on threads.

Why don't you compost them? Seems such a waste to take all that energy to the dump.

I only get leaves when the wind is strong enough to rip them off the trees, most of the trees where I live are evergreen (except my frangipani which is just starting to show leaves sprouting)

Re: leaf collection time again

I actually miss no longer having plenty of leaves in the garden. I used to make leaf mould which was great as a mulch. I am actually thinking of collecting a couple of bags from the local park.
