Friendship on forums

Have you ever PMed someone and invited them to your friend list and then "regretted it"?

I have, and I wish I could think of something gentle to say to them, that I made a mistake, we don't have anything in common, and we don't even "think" the same way........

PS: Nobody on here, so don't be trying to "guess if it is you".

I do have people from the forums that have got my PM, but never regretted it, we are still friends.

I am not sure if there is much significance about the OFF friends list. I have a few people on my list - folks who I have chatted with via threads or folks who have made me laugh and who I think are great characters, or those who have been kind. They are not really friends, although I do realise that a few people do go onto meeting and form a friendship, which is lovely.

I have half a dozen " friends" on here showing on my friends list

They are there because I either like their points of view when posting or vice versa

But can I call them friends? I don't think so.

Not that I don't like them I hasten to add, but how can we be friends without having ever met?

I never send out "friend" invites. Saves a lot of bother.

I think of "friendships" with many faces. I have a best friend, many close friends, some distant friends, some online friends........
