The lose of a much loved pet is heartbreaking and like others I have lost a few. At the time you don't want to face the loss again but then one does find place in the heart for another.

I love the names we all have for them too ... girls names & exotic ones ... 'tho Morrissey is named after a grumpy singer!
Thanks for your lovely comments, ladies ...... I hope we all have many more happy years with our four legged friends

Leia is 13,and doesn't look it. She's always been a laid back not too active cat, so there's not much difference as the years have gone by. Misty made it to 19 1/2,and Patches went to the Bridge at 20, my childhood cat (an outdoors cat!!) made it to 17.

It's heartbreaking losing them...

I have 3 Sheepdogs buried in my garden at the moment, and it tears me apart still sometimes when I look at their stone. They where my big bouncy hairy loving Clan and I'm so glad to have had them in my life.
This is Daniels Grave just after he passed on. He was a huge Puppy till the end.

A lovely tribute Roxy, I dare not let myself think to much about my past dogs and cats or I would spend the day in tears...

Re: As your pet gets older....

My Hatti girl is showing signs of ageing-her muzzle is very white now and she has slowed down quite a bit, although you wouldn't think so the way she caught sight of a deer in the woods the other day and gave chase! No chance of catching up with it though-rest of walk was spent 'plodding' along She is 8.5 yrs. and I find I'm now keeping my fingers crossed that she makes it past 9 as I've lost my previous labs. before they reached that age

Mags, Cassie is such a sleek cat and doesn't look her age....

I don't think cats show their age as much as dogs do, like a white muzzle I mean. Older cats tend to lose the gloss off their fur and sometimes the fur stands up in places so that the cat doesn't look so sleek. Other than Cassie sleeping more and not wandering out of the garden so much, she still looks the same to me as she did years ago.

Sparky's like Cassie, Mags. Shiney sleek coat, bright eyes. very agile etc but the thing that might possibly show he's getting on a bit is his saggy tummy!
