Only me the husband and son to argue with, I made Dads dinner and took it up to his house as he didn't want to go out. Mind you I did have words with my son but that is nothing new and it was forgotten again in minutes.

The preparations can get stressful ...

(bastard "Baby" potatoes from Tescos turned to mush after two minutes in water, I never got the chance to roast them as planned)

The hostess with the mostess, whose job it is to dig out the best china, silver and crystal glass ... gets under my feet in the kitchen ... FFS woman.

... but once proceeding kick off proper, all's a laugh.

A couple of the women in our family had a massive row one Xmas a few years ago. We big butch men scarpered into the dining room out of the way and let them get on with it.

Family fights were a big thing long before there was a telly. In my mom's family my uncle Merrit, Aunt Tressa and her husband Mart. Mart always went at it at Christmas. Some people just like to be "right" and enjoy a fight. Uncle Mart was the worst, Uncle Merrit was the second in line for a fight.

No fights here....but to be honest and I don't want to sound like a dragon or anything but I simply would not allow it not in my house anyway. We Yorkshire women can be fierce when needed.
