I doubt very much he chose the company, you will likely find it was sub contracted several times.

Re: Caught!!!

Why shouldn't people do a bit of work for benefits ?
Surely must give some sort of focus and reason to get up in the morning .
And also develops a mind set of work mode useful in getting a job.

I agree. They weren't unpaid because they were receiving benefits and hopefully learning something in the process. The genuine ones would have turned it to their advantage and would have seen it as low paid training. Something that many had to do years ago although it was called an apprenticeship.

Re: Caught!!!

Some people had to give up work to do it, and it was touted to give help to find a job but very few jobs came at the end of the terms they just applied for more cheap labour. When a country has a minimum wage that is what people have to be paid for work not cheaper rates because they are unemployed.

Re: Caught!!!

More than 100,000 jobseekers were put on the hated 'workfare' scheme, which forced them to work 30-hour weeks unpaid for a month each or have their benefits docked.
I think it was a good idea to get out of work people into the 'work habit ' instead of sitting at home getting benefits for nothing.

'Uncle Joe' your revered namesake Joe Stalin wouldn't have had people sitting at home doing nothing for pay, they would have been sent to a farming collective or worse a gulag to work a 14 hour day with just enough food to sustain life.
Thousands died . I don't think thousands died on the 'workfare' scheme so if we are talking about scumbags lets start with your namesake shall we.

Re: Caught!!!

I have been on 'the dole' a couple of times in the past after being made redundant and would have gladly worked for it rather than sitting on the sofa.

Reminds me a bit of Venezuela, the state so much loved by the Labour Party

[QUOTE]Time for an update from the socialist paradise of Venezuela. This week their tyrannical president Nicolas Maduro, ideological brother of Jeremy Corbyn, Diane Abbott, Owen Jones, Seumas Milne et al, was condemned by Amnesty International for passing a “forced labour” law. Maduro signed the decree giving the state power to compel citizens to go and work in the fields. Amnesty say:

“A new decree establishing that any employee in Venezuela can be effectively made to work in the country’s fields as a way to fight the current food crisis is unlawful and effectively amounts to forced labour”
Extreme poverty in Venezuela has risen by 53% since 2014, 90% of Venezuelans are eating less than they did last year, and animals in the country’s zoos are starving to death due to food shortages. [\QUOTE]

Quite taken from order-order
