Labour 'saddled Navy ships with dodgy engines'

The former Labour Government ignored concerns about the reliability of the engines for the Royal Navy’s most powerful warships in order to buy from a British manufacturer, a former head of Britain’s Maritime Warfare Centre has said. Rear Admiral Chris Parry last night accused ministers of saddling the Navy with higher long-term costs than if they had originally commissioned more effective foreign-built units.

You could argue, in Labour's favour, that more shore leave makes for happier sailors and helps the recruitment drive

Maybe it's because British design, and development, is second to none, but this comes at an extortionate labour cost, so, to come in on budget, we source components from wherever. Global manufacturers development/design costs are less, so they can afford to source quality components, from Britain.

We British are not all bad.

At least our electronics work and cannot be turned on and off at will by the Russians, unlike the USA and others who bought into Aegis.

Time we had another Who is Backing Britain campaign, many of the knockers seem home grown these days.

Support your home grown tradesmen, not cheap imports.
