New Speaker at H o C

Lindsay Hoyle has secured the position of Speaker in the H o C by 325 votes to Chris Bryant's 213. He's pledged to be neutral and transparent. We shall see.

Thank god the vile Harriet Harperson didn't get the job.

He might not be in the job for very long, subject to the GE outcome.

It would have been sensible for the deputy speaker to hold fort until the next set of MP's are elected.

It could have been worse , thank heavens it wasn't Harman .

I think Sir Lindsay Hoyle is seen as a safe pair of hands and that is why he succeeded in being elected .
Having seen him in action I am looking forward to a calmer faired HOC without Bercows's self-indulgent rantings. The HOC should also be able to get a lot more work done too.

I wouldn't expect Hoyle to be opposed when the new parliament sits.

Is it a requirement that you have to speak funny to get the job. He puts emphasis in all the wrong places, plus he has a girl's name.
