Did you know that Simon Stevens, Chief Executive of NHS England was the adviser to Tony Blair's government when he took on PPI funding of British hospitals of 11 billion pounds at a cost to taxpayers of 80 billion pounds? He then became (surprise, surprise) president of UnitedHealth, Europe, the chief benefactor of the deal and biggest benefactor of privatised medicine.
As Chief Exec of our NHS, it is his imposition of a non-negotiated cut in pay for unsociable hours and overtime that forced the Junior Doctors' strike as part of a plan to force the best and most qualified to seek work either in private practice or abroad in order to reduce the number and quality of doctors in the NHS as well as avoiding redundancy payments when their jobs are cut.
The aim is an American style Health Service by the end of this parliament, staffed by un-qualified helpers and less qualified doctors from here and overseas, who will be paid far less for longer hours.
He was also behind the formation of hospital trusts. A scheme to turn the NHS into separate businesses, which can be legally forced in to bankruptcy, closed and sold off for redevelopment to private companies. The next few months will see a few more going this way, as squeezes are intensified by cuts in funding, increases in patients and the inevitable disasters happening. Headlines in the Tory press about 'Failing hospitals' etc.
Believe it or not, this is happening now. It has been forcast for years but not headlined in the press for obvious reasons.
The truth is out there folks!

Whatever happens something has to be done. Surely you are not proposing that its allowed to continue, with the taxpayer having to bail them out? It might make the NHS managers a bit more aware of their financial responsibilities, like cutting back on agency staff for a start.

'Managers' why do you think they have become managers? The NHS has been deliberately run down since the 1980s, so that it can be sold off to private healthcare companies like UnitedHealth, Virgin and the rest. Completely without a mandate from us. Is that Democracy? Do you really want an American style health service, that loses 45 million patients a year from treatable illnesses?

Whether you want it or not that is what you are going to get because it is now too late to stop this.

All you will have left is the basic walk in, diagnose, then pay to get better system once know as the NHS

What I want is a NHS that is efficient, successful and stays within it budgets. The fact is it is not being run down, it cannot keep up with increases in patients, new drug cures, the cost of those cures.

This government has increase the NHS budget every year despite their austerity plans and still it is not enough. Much of the budget is wasted on agency staff and poor practice in the purchasing of medical supplies. If a private company operated like this it would pretty soon be out of business.

The only financial resources the NHS has comes from the taxpayer, something has to give. So far as America is concerned I haven't enough information to comment since you haven't provide a link to the figures

Finally, with regard to a mandate, if the NHS or the Government came running to the public every time they need to make a decision, pretty soon neither would function.

Perhaps now you may be inclined and answer the questions I posed in my previous post.

Stop the corruption among this government and it's croneys and get the crooks in jail. The richest pay a derisory amount in tax, if they pay any at all, the tax that is collected comes from the rest of us and is spent on handouts to those who have more than they can possibly spend in one lifetime. Who's paying for this current war? It's not those who cosied up to the oil trillionaires, taking handouts and jollies as well as undeclared prezzies, for access to our markets. It's we poor saps who pod out for everything and get nothing but contempt, lies and withdrawal of our rights and benefits in return.
