Well, I never imagined it was dead, in fact it's got worse.
I'm hoping my youngest proves me wrong when she gets her BA next year! I'm in no doubt she'll leave this country though to get work.

Is it class these days or those with money and those without ? It seems to me if you obtain enough money you can move up the system whereas years ago it was birth determined your status.

Yes Julie, but you need to read BOTH articles that I have linked here, since you will see those 'at the top' are stopping high achivers if they (or their parents) do not themselves have a 'good' income in the first place.
