Now this is funny!!!

Apparently the navy's latest type 45 destroyers can't operate if the water temperature is warmer than that in Portsmouth harbour, so tours of duty in 'Gulf' are not on

Unbelievable really, someone should be held accountable, listening to the radio it was like a tennis match as each side tried to pass the buck. As a maritime nation you would think by now we could have the expertise to deal with the differing conditions on the high seas.

Not too dissimilar to the case a few years ago when helicopters destined for Afghanistan were built without bulletproofing. Certainly some incompetent designers out there.

I agree, and I too cannot see anything humorous about the MOD's deplorable incompetence and the risk to our armed forces from it, quite the opposite in fact. Perhaps UJ can explain the funny side?

Does it matter? Britain doesn't venture east of Suez anyway does it? At least not since Harold Wilson was PM.

A ridiculous situation. For how many years have we been making marine gas turbines without any problems? Suddenly, someone has designed a new one which is not fit for purpose.

One thing that puzzles me is that in earlier escort vessels the gas turbines have been easily replaceable, even at sea, yet for some reason I understand that to replace these they'll need to cut holes in the sides of the ship.

The sad thing is that, apart from the engines, these new ships are the best in the world for air defence - even better than America!

Surely UJ did'nt mean it as funny haha, but funny strange. But I agree it is deplorable incompetence.
