A rant by Besoeker

Where we live borders a green which is council land. It’s lovely to stroll out our front gate with my fuzzy beast, no lead But he doesn’t like the mowers. So I asked the council…..

“I live in ****** Drive

Can you tell me on which dates the grass is scheduled to be cut, please?
It's just so we can avoid walking the dog in these area when the mowers are operating.”

“I can raise a report to send to the contractors so they are aware of this area needs cutting if you wish?”

“In regards to their details unfortunately we are unable to give them out, however if you wanted to raise a request for this to be cut we could pass your details on to the waste officer for your area to contact you.”

“My question is not whether the grass needs cutting. It is WHEN will the mowers be out. so that I can avoid walking my dog at those times.
By all means, feel free to pass on my details to the waste officer in charge.
Terry, our local waste collector, is a brilliant guy. “

“A member of our Customer Service Team will respond to you within 5 working days with advice, guidance or a resolution for your issue. We may need to pass your issue to an experienced specialist officer for investigation before a full response can be given. If this is the case we shall let you know.”

It's tempting to........

Hi

I know those phrases, many Councils use a standard customer response computer package.

It is useless, but cheap.

Quite. How many levels does it need to get to before they can, if they can, tell me when the bloody mowers will be out? How hard can that be??

Surely you will see/hear when a mower is working outside, I know I can.
Around here they whizz along, so I either walk in the opposite direction to them working, or I can wait till they move on, which is usually pretty quick.

I honestly don't see it as a problem.

I agree with Mups don’t walk the dog when you hear the Mowers .
If you’re out and the grass cutters arrive beat a hasty retreat.
It’s getting late in the season grass cutting won’t be so frequent .

Besoeker

you are being given the run around, after being passed from one person to another you will find you go right back to the person you first dealt with.

it is rather clever as it confused the enemy in wartime so much they gave up

Surely you can hear when the grass is being mown so you can avoid walking your dog at those times, if that is really necessary. I don't think it is the job of the council to inform you when they are mowing the grass.

Silly question possibly but can you not just look out of your window if you live that close?

Don't worry about it Besoeker...just cut the grass yourself, then it can be done whenever you want it done...
