I saw this old clip from a program my parents used to enjoy.
It made me laugh so much as I remember that at one time my mum went to work in a local factory and was put to work rolling Cadbury mini rolls. Yes at that time they used to roll them by hand.
They had to learn how to roll four all at same time using two hands. Obviously there was a knack to doing this but there was also a conveyor belt delivering to the rolling table to keep up with.
My mum used to come home in a terrible state as she couldnt keep up with the conveyor and the other women working on the rolling table and said in her area there was cream, jam and sponge cake everywhere and they had to get one of the cleaning guys with a big plastic shovel to clean up where she had been working.
Did you notice on the clip how the women would lick their fingers to clean them.
OMG! those were the days!. no wearing of white, hygienic garments or hat, no gloves, using their bare hands to touch food, and oh Lordie, licking her fingers!!! Ugh!
That was hilarious.
Have you noticed in Master Chef & Bake Off, how all the cooks touch the food with their hands & pick it up to arrange it when presenting it for the tables. I don't think that's very hygienic either.
