A Sign of Spring?

In spite of all the storms, gales, rain, hail and snow this lovely tree is in full blossom. Does anyone know what type of tree it is?

Close up of the blossom - a bit fuzzy because it was blowing about!

That looks very much like hawthorn to me, confirmed by the website on the link below:

It's very early for all that blossom though, there are still 24 days to go before spring!

I lost my Forsythia - but the pink Jasmin has leave buds on it!

Been looking on line - it seems this tree is a variety of Japanese Winter flowering Cherry.

Thanks for looking Baz but, as you say, it is too early for Hawthorn - plus - there are no thorns, leaves, or scent

I thought that's what it was, just a quick check to confirm this as correct. Very early but it's like my daffodils, they have been out in bloom for the last couple of weeks or more and today, even with all this wind and rain, they are happily waving around as if it's spring!

We are perplexed by the current weather conditions, it would seem that Mother Nature has a similar problem!

Very pretty, Tabby, I'd say a flowering Cherry too.
Our Magnolia isn't even out yet. It's very late.

Probably not hawthorn then as that definitely does have thorns, quite nasty ones at that!

Yes, very much like the flowering cherry.

Out-identified then by the sound of things.
OK I give up as I am obviously out-voted here!

Could it be a crabapple?
Whatever it is, I need one!
