Northern Rebellion??

Is Manchester mayor Andy Burnham trying to start a political war
over what should be a health matter really??
I could have some sympathy for his argument IF the figures for
infections backed him up, but , unfortunately the northern areas do
have significantly higher rates than other regions !! Which nullifies his
argument that the north is being punished in some way? Which, imo
goes against all logic??
However, Boris does have a way to encourage the mayor to follow
the guidelines concerning covid control ! He could make the provision
of government aid such as furlough and other assistance conditional
on following scientific advice in fighting covid ??
Maybe that would modify Andies rhetoric when all of his citizens
go bankrupt??

I am sickened by the politicians seemingly being unable/unwilling to work together for the greater good of all at this time of concern among the public and rising cases and deaths from C19.
I think there is some political game playing going on too all very annoying...

If the population in the north refuse to follow the rules then they should be hit with the strictest conditions. Tough luck about loosing jobs, what is more important jobs or health?

Hi
I agree Meg.

Unfortunately it works both ways.

Some Cabinet Ministers Constituencies have not been put into lockdown even though they have very high infection rates.

The real problem is that some areas within the northern counties which have been put into Type 2 lockdown do not suffer from the problems found in others.

My own, for example, is nowhere near as bad as places like Oldham and Rochdale.

Even in those areas, I'm sure that there are well-behaved people as well as covidiots.

Still, I suppose it's easier to impose a general lockdown than address the real problems.
