That can't be right!
I thought that Coronavirus was Boris's fault?
Or is it Trump?

BTW, it's not just Spain.

Oh dear

I wonder what the EU budget for 2021 will be. It's turning out to be a complete car crash, the poor states against the wealthy ones.

That's solidarity in the EU .... yeah (not).

The EU budget?

"Reaching an agreement over the EU’s €1.8 trillion seven-year budget and recovery plan will be “virtually impossible” without face-to-face meetings, warned the German EU Presidency."

Re: Meanwhile in Spain ...

Hi

Spain has a state of emergency, same rules would apply here if Boris declared an emergency.

It's not enough money - they are already scratching their heads trying to think of ways to get more. One solution is social bonds and the other more mutualised debt.

It's no wonder the rich member states are up in arms about it. They've already been stung for 750 billion and allowed the ECB to borrow on the capital markets (mutualised debt on behalf of the 27) for the next 50 years. All that quantitive easing since 2010 has failed and the only thing keeping the Eurozone afloat is the continuation of pumping in billions and billions of QE debt each month. The ECB has created it's own zombie economy and zombie industries (through fake demand), all about to implode when deflation kicks in.

There's two options for the 2021 budget as I see it ...

1. Continue the existing budget until the 27 agree the 2021 budget, in which case the poorer states lose out and those green projects, big ideas etc all go on the back-burner, hampering the progress of supranationalism.

2. Override democracy in the EU and remove the voting rights of the wealthier nations then ram the new budget through - in which case it will be carnage with rich nations wanting to leave.

Decisions, decisions.......

Whaa ............. ? ? ?

No.
Simply, no.

There might be a lot of similarities in what each country's "State of Emergency" consists of but I can assure you that the same rules would certainly not apply.

That's ignoring the big "if", because we had a lockdown (not a State of Emergency) and the effects of that didn't last very long once restrictions were eased.
So I don't think that - having seen that & the economic damage caused - many places will see actions like that of Spain.

Bluntly, I don't really understand why you posted that; it was pointless.

We don't have a state of emergency because our NHS isn't on strike for a start

Quite; I did add that Swimfeeders post was pretty pointless.

Re: Eegh-Eugh budget - it's going to be fun watching the inevitable bunfight.

The last time round (without Brexit, Covid etc.) they were well into their budgeting period before it got resolved (after some horseplay).
This time they have a few members to placate first, most notably Poland & Hungary and rather than trying the imposing of restrictions which (if continued) will at best see an alliance refusing any proposal of a budget could at its' worst see the EU irrevocably split into factions.

Shame.
