Expect lots more from the French. They will do their utmost to make life as difficult as possible for our truckers after December. I sincerely hope Hauliers have thought about alternative routes, It would then soon get through to the Port of Calais officials that it doesn't bode well to bite the hand that feeds you.

I have read somewhere that some hauliers are prepared to use other ports & the ones (ports) local to me at Hull, Immingham & Grisby say they are ready.
There's also been an expansion in services and routes from these ports in preperation with (for example) more Hull & Immingham to Amsterdam & Rotterdam services introduced.
I see there are other new routes opened recently too, including Liverpool to Portugal and Spain & Teeside to Spain.

Calais could well see a reduction regardless, and as you say if they want to further bite the hand that feeds .........

UK freeports will be a big influencer when it comes to imports and exports. Currently there are about 10 that are being bidding for

Yup, Immingham is one.
We had seven freeports at one time and five in the UK up until 2012 when we let the domestic laws that set up those ports expire, probably as the result of them not being necessary because of our EU membership.

They weren't free ports. As soon as goods left them they were subject to the EU common external tarrif. It was just a name given to them, nothing more.
