One good thing about face masks -

We are no longer subjected to the revolting sight of people chewing gum - especially those who do it with their mouths open!

They also keep your face warm, so I've noticed on dog walks.

... and you don't have to keep endlessly smiling at people in shops. I don't wear them outdoors because it is not required and it is not cold.

Do people still chew gum? I can't say I've noticed any near me but maybe its a regional thing. I hate masks I wear them though of course but as soon as I'm out in the open I take it off ...that first gasp of cold fresh air mask free is lovely

Still ain't worked out why a person in a street with no one else within 50 metres, wears a mask. The moisture in the breath degrades the fibres apparently, removing it once outside is so liberating init summer.

Yes - they do Summer, or did before C19. Going into town on the bus was a nightmare listening to the chomp, chomp, slurp, slurp - and they talk with their mouths full of gum! Not just the young ones either.

I certainly would never engage in conversation with anyone while they were chewing gum.

Always hated chewing Gum, the damn stuff lost its flavour after about 30 seconds, don't dislike gum chewers, just feel a bit sorry for them, not that they would welcome my pity, probably.

Re: One good thing about face masks -

Talking of face masks Tabby, did you know that if we wear those paper ones, we are supposed to pull the ear loops off before we dispose of them?

I confess I didn't know this until a couple of days ago, when I saw a wildlife programme on telly that showed Swans, and other creatures, with these masks tangled round their necks.

So those that care about wildlife are asking us to just pull those loops off before we dispose of masks please.

And on a slightly different matter regarding masks, I do find groups of young men wearing masks and hoodies as well, can look quite sinister.

These masks are pain in the butt.....as soon as I walk into a shop, in this weather, my glasses steam up!!.....can’t see a darn thing.

Good thing, obviously protect me from spitty , who seems to be unable to speak without spraying me with their saliva, the amount of sneezers in some gyms is unbelievable, thankfully they are now closed, due to lockdown.
