Re: Trump to be the 45th USA President:your thoughts and the implications

On QT now, suggestion that Donald Trump will be a part-time president he only wanted to win the election, not going to be interested in doing the proper job. Interesting.

Yes. For as long as I remember, we have had general elections where one party or the other have won and everyone has accepted the result as a perfectly normal outcome, but I have never experienced this apparently new phenomenon of the losers carrying on like upset children. The same thing happened after the Brexit referendum was won, of course.

It seems that disenchanted American losers are even flooding emigration web sites now! The New Zealand one has just been mentioned on the news.

Is this a sign of the future? Are we going to have demonstrations or even riots after every general election from now on?

The world's greatest treasurer and one of Australia's greatest Prime Ministers was on the ABC's 7.30 Report last night. I think he summed up exactly what should be Australia's position post Trump. As he explains, Trump is not all bad.

Keating is no dill. His view must be respected.

I guess I have mellowed a bit since my first reaction to Trump's win.
Perhaps the sky will not fall in ?!

Apparently 54% of Americans aged 18-25 who voted voted for Hilary .
So it appears to be a victory of the older person or maybe older people just took the trouble to vote ?
but surprisingly the democrats did not get all the Latino and black votes as expected .
One black American said he voted for Trump because years of democratic government had not worked out for the working man so had decided on trying something new.

JB is this something to do with the rise of social media whipping dissenters into a frenzy .

All my adult life I have voted and muttered into my porridge the morning after the vote if not happy (which was most of the time being a Liberal ) , then got on with life. I guess most people did the same .

I wondered if it was something to do with social media too, if years ago we wanted to protest we had to ring individuals often from phone boxes it took time and effort. Now one shout from your arm chair on Twitter or Facebook and you have a mob, not even hand picked protesters anyone turns up and there is a big professional band of rioters go to any protest these days.

I also heard that Hilary got more votes overall than trump.
You work it out, because I can't.
