I smoke. I don't really care about the health issues because I've really had enough of this world and my life.

That's fair enough Lloyd, your choice....I've often thought that when I get towards the end of my life and there's nothing left to lose, then I would probably smoke a cigarette or two again, just for the hell of it...

Life is precious Lloyd, it saddens me to here you say that you have had enough.

Re: Any smokers here?

I started smoking when I was 12 (1958) but stopped in 2000 aged 54 just decided and did it, kept on at hubby to give up too but he couldn't. In 2005 I had a heart attack and afterwards found the slightest whiff of smoke made me cough violently, hubby gave up though he found it very hard, he never had a smokers cough though he had at one time got up to 80 a day. After he gave it up he was diagnosed with severe COPD which finally killed him 2 yrs ago. They insisted it was cigs that caused it even though he'd had an accident at work in 95 which affected his lungs, for the last 2 yrs of his life we had an oxygen recirculator in the house and he was on it 17 hrs a day. In the last 6 months of his life evey breath was torment for him, the slightest movement agony. If you can imagine putting a polythene bag over your head that's how it was for him. He still craved a cigarette though.

I always thought I'd ride out of this life on an LSD trip of a lifetime, but sadly there isn't the time anymore.

Re: Any smokers here?

Yep, O.B., I smoke, but thing's have changed for me these last 3/4 year's. I've been a smoker since my 'teen's...(I'm 63 now)...regularly smoking 20/30 a day...but I then began rolling my own some 15 years ago, and from there something 'strange' happened...I found I only wanted to smoke when I was having a drink...(which was 2/3 times a week!).

Explanation?...I figure I simply got bored with having to 'roll a cig' everytime I fancied one...which led onto total boredom with smoking in general!.

These day's, I rarely smoke, (regardless of my recently-diagnosed Heart probs)...but, even so, when I have drink or two, I'm a veritable Volcano!.

I wonder if anyone can proffer a reason?.

Perhaps you are one of the very lucky ones who's brain doesn't develop the extra nicotine receptors which makes giving up so difficult. My brother was a bit like that he used to smoke four or five fags a day then just stop for long periods before having another smoke. Not a behaviour I could emulate.

For me having a few drinks and not craving a smoke was the final test that showed I had kicked the filthy habit.
