I've just heard from my friend in Garfield, NJ, she says there was no damage to her building or her car, which was outside, and her 17 year old cat is just fine. The electricity supply was restored at 3.45 a.m. this morning and the clean up of the area is progressing.

I was so relieved to hear from her, that was a terrible storm.

That's good news Loretta it must be so worrying for those who have friends or relatives in the US and Canada during this dreadful time.

The enormity of the disaster didn't really hit home until I say the footage of La Guardia airport. The entire runway and aprons are under metres of water. One of the pics showed water as high as the elevated boarding walkways!

We're about 3,000 miles from the carnage here on the West Coast.

Its been a real hard time for all the people accross the pond, i hope they are all safe, & the danger is over now
