Hi Mags...Thanks for that link...
Ironically, I had read that info before I attempted to upload my photo.

Must be one of my 'senior' moments...

Regards, Malc.

I had one, not all it was cracked up to be, so went back to an MG.

Re: Owning a classic car?

I still have my repair garage yet I`m retired now, mostly because I did not want to go into the expense of Diagnostic Equipment which can cost £££`s.

4 yrs ago my cousin put a 1951 Austin Cambridge in the garage on the ramps, just for a few weeks. Its still there??? His intentions were to renovate it when he can get it into his garage, which at the moment has three A30`s stripped down.

Was tempted to have a go myself, but I suffer with A/S and I would hate to abandon a half finish project.

Re: Owning a classic car?

Hi Roy, I owned a 1955 Austin A40/A50 Cambridge in 1965... Same style bodywork, 1200cc/1500cc engines.( similar to the A55)
I'm assuming that the 1951 model was a much earlier body style to the one that I owned?
Do you have a photo?
Regards, Malc.

Re: Owning a classic car?

Hi Malc,
No I have never taken a photo of it, did not have any reason to and to be honest it is now cluttered around with building materials that my son drops off now and again through his business.

Re: Owning a classic car?

I apologise Malc its not a Cambridge, it is a Somerset.
Identical to this image here.

People passing the garage when I have the doors open ask what car it is and I have always said its a Cambridge, I ought to be horsewhipped for not realising it in the first place.

In my defence, My cousin said it was a Cambridge when he put it in there, at that time my A/S was flaring up and if he said it was a model `T` I would have agreed.

Wracked my brain lately about what I would like to do apart from the computer related stuff and maybe owing a classic car might do the job . Maybe not but I used to be a car tuner and also repaired cars long ago. Would love to get my hands on a Rover 2000 TC or Rover 3500.

Then again is the above more hassle than it is worth?
If you think too much, you'll get into analysis, paralysis. Just go for it. Much better than sitting at your computer day in day out.

Re: Owning a classic car?

Hi Roy,
I've just found these photos on Flickr.
https://www.flickr.com/groups/cargui...7624487737419/

Scroll down to photo nos: 9-10-11 (They're the A40 Somerset that you mentioned)

Photo no: 12 (PSL 346) is identical to the A40 Cambridge that I owned.
The Reg of mine was SNA 779.

Fond memories of those days...
Regards, Malc.
