Re: Pernicious anaemia

It's easy to eat raw liver. Just mince it - form it into little balls and freeze it.
Then you swallow it with water like a pill...

Somebody told me this. I haven't done it myself!

It can depend on how low is low...

Ive just read an article recently that lack of vitamin c can sometimes be a cause for low iron in the body since you need vitamin c in order for the body to absorb the iron. Might be worth looking into. I know that vitamin c can interfere with some medications as my husband cannot have orange juice or grapefruit due to his meds. Its always best to ask the doctor first.I

Re: Pernicious anaemia

Thanks folks. Carol, I still couldn't eat raw liver even frozen into little balls - YUK! Pats, my blood count is extremely low - 1.8. It should be about 5. JoAnn, mine isn't just iron-deficiency anaemia (which is a lack of vitamin C), it is a lack for some reason of vitamin B12 too. Anyway, I'll see what transpires after my next blood test. Thanks everyone.

Hi, I couldn't tell you what my Red Cell count is, but I am also low in Platelets which is 114 million cells but should be between 150 to 400 million.

I hope the doctors sort it all out soon.
