No Claims Bonus

If, like me you've never really given a thought to your NCB, (No Claims Bonus), when you switch, please bear this in mind.

Since the 16th of this month, I've been with a different insurer.

This should be just fine & dandy but it bloody isn't!!

I've found out today that my Car Insurance has NOT been in place because Aviva refused to give details of my past NCB to my new insurer's agents due to their strict adherence to the DATA PROTECTION ACT.

I've had to ask them to send this to ME so I can then pass it on to my new insurer, yet I've been driving since the 16th on what now seems to be illegal Insurance cover!

That's not a problem it seems yet putting me in an illegal position is NOT their concern?!

I've now added Insurance Companies - ALL Insurance Companies to the ever-increasing number of people / companies I no longer trust!

Can incompetence get any worse?! stevmk2

I'm surprised by this Steve, I've been changing car insurance companies pretty much every year for the last decade or so and the new company always asks for proof of NCB which I can invariably find on my renewal letter from my present insurer ....

Re: No Claims Bonus

I've just swapped like I do every year and the new company have sent me a cover note until confirmation from my previous insurer has been received.

You are responsible for providing proof of you NCB.
You can check if you are insured here.

Re: No Claims Bonus

We had exactly the same problem last year ! thought it was just our insurer being difficult ! They didn't seem to care the position they put us in either.

So it's NOT just me then Julie!

Today of all days they give me a problem that could increase my premium by £38!

Luckily I've now got proof, emailed through to me by Aviva.
