Re: Same sex adoption

Latest studies say it doesn't matter a jot the sexual orientation of the parents as long as the child is loved and happy. Much more important the home is happy than anything else.

I think actually can be better for some children to be with same sex parents and single parents can be just as good too.

I don’t agree with it for the simple reason it deprives an innocent child of the benefits of having either a mother or father, instead they two fathers or two mothers which is not fair on the child who has no say in the matter.

It doesn't seem to have any adverse effects though Jem so can't see why they shouldn't do it.

Re: Same sex adoption

I have absolutely nothing against same sex couples. I don't UNDERSTAND same sex adoption, simply because I can't quite imagine the time when the child starts nursery and goes to school, only because I just wonder what other parents and children think of it. Other than that it doesn't bother me. As long as the child is happy and well cared for, then that's the ultimate for me.

But shouldn't a child have a balance in his or her life, a woman role as a man role

Re: Same sex adoption

When a parent walks out children are often left lacking the influence of the other gender partner so thats not a great problem.
As regards what other people say/ think, isnt it about time people learned to keep their predjudices to themselves around children?
I remember when my son was small some of the mums gossiping about one woman who was young and a bit of a punk rock type her daughter overheard and with her eyes full of tears she yelled , 'I dont care what you say shes my mummy and I love her'

I dont think a small child should ever have to defend thier parents against such silly small mindedness.

There is a little boy at our local school with 2 daddies, the kids really don't blink an eye and accept it as perfectly normal. He is with them because he is the biological son to one of them, so no adoption needed.

...and as long as they're still treated like that in high school - wonderful!
