Badger Sett?

Hi all,

Do you think this is a Badger Sett in my rear garden?
I have covered it over with earth, but the very next day it's open again.

Re: Badger Sett?

Not the beginnings of a sinkhole is it?

Next door but one but one had a hole appear just like that then the next day it was 10 feet across and 6 feet deep.

There used to be a quarry years ago at the back of our gardens years ago apparently. stevmk2

Re: Badger Sett?

Susie we have a lot of badger setts here and I would describe them as major earth workings with a number of different exits (we also have the latrines around the fields which you get with badgers and they are not so nice )

It is difficult to work out the size from your picture but it looks very like rat hole to me.

Re: Badger Sett?

Without been alarmist ... I was going to suggest rats too.
Rats tend to leave a very pungent pong though ...

After reading these replies I'd have to sit up all night and watch to see what came out.

Re: Badger Sett?

Go careful as that looks like a fairy Dwellers (Not to be confused with a Leaflet fairy) home. They are very territorial so you are very honoured to have them in your garden
