Deleting old contacts, for the life of me I can't do it...

Help needed

Well I had a look on my iPad. Go into Contacts, click on the person, click Edit, then down the bottom is a red box saying Delete Contact.

Thanks jazzy but my contacts have messages with them and it does delete but the message............need to find just contacts...feel silly
