Re: Hospital Parking Fees

Very expensive. 1 hour £2, 2 hours £2.80, 2-4 hours £5 4-24hrs £6.90. First 20 minutes is free but it isn't often you can get out of a hospital visit in 20 minutes is it. I often look at all the cars in our hospital car park and think, whoa, just imagine how much these car park owners are making. Even the hospital staff have to pay for parking.

First half hour is free, best you can hope for is a quick prognosis.

Of course.

I don't know of any hospital, certainly in this region, where parking is free.

The only one with any concession is our nearest 'community hospital' where you are permitted 30 minutes (I think) without charge.

Parking is big business for hospitals and, of course, the parking companies who happily run the show.

Re: Hospital Parking Fees

Here, some have paid parking and others don't.

All of the major ones do have free valet services though, and the good ones won't allow people to tip.

Re: Hospital Parking Fees

Our smaller hospitals are free, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet and Paulton but the larger ones aren't. If I had to go to RUH in Bath I would get the Park and Ride.

Re: Hospital Parking Fees

One of our local , general hospitals has both. A main car park that charges, and another which is really big, for people who are likely to be under 2 hrs.

The local community kicked off big time when the fees were first introduced, which possibly could have resulted in some resolve, I'm not sure.

Clatterbridge charges but the Oncology unit has free parking.

We don't have parking fees in Wales, but it is really difficult to park at the hospital around here.

Re: Hospital Parking Fees

Parking fees aren't the only problem at our county hospital, there are not enough parking spaces so you have arrive 40 mins early and wait for someone to leave which adds to the stress if you have an appointment. I now have to get my son to take me and drop me off then he can park when there is a space.

Thinking to avoid the lack of parking I decided to attend the cardiac clinic at the local cottage hospital instead. That was a mistake, I had to wait 6 months for an appointment and only got to see a nurse rather than a consultant.
