The guy shot an unarmed wounded prisoner of war and was fully aware of his actions as he immediately told his mates to keep it to themselves as he had just broken the Geneva Convention.
I find the sudden discovery of a mental illness a little bit convenient to say the least.
Rubbish! the sergeant couldn't have been certain that the prisoner was unarmed, and had to make a quick decision. It wouldn't have been the first time that a prisoner had abused the terms of surrender
But a wider aspect is the effect on any future military actions
Front line troops will now be more hesitant about shooting, and have to second guess how that will be interpreted.
This must surely make their, and their colleagues lives more dangerous than they already are
