Normally I don’t do politics or religion BUT I read this entire thread the other day and felt compelled to respond to it .
Are guns legal in Canada?
There is NO LEGAL RIGHT to carry firearms. Canadian civilians are NOT allowed to carry automatic weapons, handguns with a shorter barrel than 10.cm
or any modified handgun, rifle or shotgun. Most semi automatic weapons are banned
Is concealed carry legal in Canada?
No it’s prohibited except under special authorization.
Can you carry a gun in Canada?
No! Carrying a handgun without authorization is very illegal and there is no way of getting an authorization without having a job which requires it.

While we share many similarities with our American neighbours, we DO NOT share the same mentality when it comes to guns and gun laws. We don’t believe that owning a gun is a beneficial entitlement.
In fact, if someone breaks into your home here in Canada, in order to rob you, you are NOT allowed to assault them, let alone shoot them. The only thing you can do , legally , is call the police. You can scream, swear, jump up and down and get royally pissed off but you cannot use violence against them.
Regardless , there are still many Canadians who don’t think anything of leaving their doors unlocked while they go out.
Sure we have had our share of school shootings but nothing in comparison to the States.
Were drugs involved?
From my understanding , no. Not that we don’t have our share of crack & meth heads or new scary drugs like fentanyl but according to research, these weren’t involved. Most of our mass murderers had mental disorders but regardless of the reason why these disturbed people did this, more importantly is ‘how’ they did it.
You can not do a mass shooting without access to weapons and if you have slack gun laws, it makes it that much easier.
The fact that the media sensationalizes bad news, like mass shootings, because it sells, contributes to all of this. If attention is what these disturbed people are seeking then as a collective society , we are giving them exactly that.
If we are well known for anything here in Canada it’s for our Hockey, maple syrup and the fact that we are compassionate generous people. We will open up our doors to anyone in need and are known for our multicultural communities.
During 911, 224 planed landed in the provinces of Canada , leaving 33,000 people stranded on tarmacs. These terrified people needed housing and feeding which is exactly what we did. Gander , Newfoundland with a population of 10,000 generously opened up their hearts and houses to 6,700 people.
Gander isn’t by far, wealthy but their hearts are HUGE.

So while I can’t speak for all Canadians, I certainly can safely state that the majority of us were as shocked as the rest of the world when Trump was elected as president. ‘Most’ of us can’t relate to that type of ‘red neck’ mentality.
P.S. I’m NOT here to debate anything. I was just compelled to make this MAJOR distinction.
Thank you !
