Re: Corrie in the old days.

Corrie has changed so much over the years. I watched the very first episode on 9 December 1960, just one day before my 11th birthday.

By heck, there were some fearsome characters back then. Ena Sharples, Annie Walker, Albert Tatlock.

It was originally going to be called Florizel Street, but it was changed because Florizel sounded too much like a disinfectant!

Re: Corrie in the old days.

I remember most of the cast from the old days

That scene about the water bed was so funny

I liked Elsie Tanner a lot and Jack & Vera and not forgetting dear old Minnie Caldwell

Re: Corrie in the old days.

My earliest memory of Corrie was coming home from school to my Nan's house and she was watching the episode where Ken Barlow's wife Valerie dies. (Jan '71)

My favourite characters are Stan & Hilda Ogden, Eddie Yates, Curly Watts and Elsie Tanner.

I remember that, Valerie was Ken's first wife and she electrocuted herself with a hair dryer.

The very first episode if I remember was in black and white.
The first shot was in Florrie Lindley`s cornershop....Then there was a scene of Ken Barlow repairing a puncture in his mothers kitchen,[/I]
