Re: Your weather

Overcast and threatening rain here. We will also feel the effects of Hurricane Sandy by Monday. Even though my city (London, Ontario) is well inland one forecast yesterday suggested we may have power outages. Rain and high winds for sure.

I think it will just be a bad storm here as I'm quite a ways inland. This morning I contacted friends who live on the east coast and they have bought a generator to keep the frig running when the power goes out. They're optimistic about riding it out. Sometimes the forecast is much worse than the weather.

Re: Your weather

News at 2:30 here: "The mayor of New York City ordered the mandatory evacuation of hundreds of thousands of residents as Hurricane Sandy roars towards the east coast of the U.S. and parts of Canada, bringing punishing winds, heavy rainfall and storm surges.

At a press conference Sunday, Michael Bloomberg said some 375,000 people in a number of coastal areas including Coney Island, lower Manhattan and parts of the Queens neighbourhood would need to leave their homes. He said those affected would have to stay with family and friends outside of the evacuation area or at one of the 72 shelters the city has set up."

They're calling it a Frankenstorm - the convergence of 3 storms, now with a span of 1600 miles and rated a category 4 at the centre.

Edited to add they're saying pets are welcome at the shelters.
