My tribute to Lee Rigby (poem)
I like to write poems, Here is one I wrote as tribute to the young soldier Lee Rigby who died senselessly the other day.
Walking along, not a care in the world
When ever so quickly a horror unfurled
A man with a gun, another with a knife
Suddenly attacked, taking a soldiers life
H stood no chance, they acted too fast
He was being killed, as people walked past
Then came an angel to halt the madness
Those men had already caused too much sadness
People looked on as he died in the road
By now the world had gone into shock mode
Why did those men do this mindless act
It doesn’t make sense, that’s certainly a fact
A toddler no daddy, a Mother no Son
All because of men with a knife and a gun
All the soldiers and people worldwide
Will salute Lee Rigby whilst hurting inside
We’ll always remember the fateful day
When a soldier died in a senseless way
So dear Lee, we hope you sleep tight
We’ll shed a tear as we bid you goodnight
RIP LEE RIGBY
