Re: Some of our Australian fauna

Just saw this video of a trainer of our native dog the Dingo. Copy and paste into your browser to watch the video. Most of us never even see a Dingo!

That video was a good find vivity. Well worth watching.

I had the privilege some time ago of raising orphaned twin wallabies.
It is unusual to find twins so for me it was rather special.

Beautiful Gerry, how big were they when you got them? Mother road kill? They both wouldn't have been able to survive in the mothers pouch as they got bigger or could they?

When I got them they were furred so thermoregulated. I admire the carers who look after the little pinkies as they have to be kept at a certain temperature and fed every few hours.
Yes the mother was road kill.

I have seen other twins as young. As pinkies they would both be in the pouch, but as they got bigger and were not in the pouch all the time I noticed one in and one out of the pouch.
Do they take it in turns ? Hard to tell as you cannot tell them apart but I would guess they would take turns.
Animal twins have that same closeness as human twins do.

Sometimes I leave little treats in my garage to see what happens.
This incident I call multicultural. A possum and a wallaby stealing the treats.

Re: Some of our Australian fauna

Talking of Blue Tongue Lizards the one in my garden was such a hit on YouTube it had 10 viewers in 4 months:

Can you guess how it got its name? They are harmless things but very slow so dogs and cats get them.

Australians are such whizzes with naming things that when driving west of the Divide (or in Queensland) I get to the stage that if I see another One Mile Creek or Two Mile Creek I think I will scream.

They are 3.2km outside just about every bloody town!
