Re: Your Occupation

My job in the past was one you'd never hear of. Basically it was media monitoring which was going to work, reading newspapers & drinking coffee Well.....not that simple. Clients could be literally any person or company, entertainers, etc The PR people wanted to know what kind of media coverage their clients were getting in various newspapers, magazines, radio & TV.

I was laid off a decade ago & my husband still works for the company, only now the newspapers are scanned into the computer from head office, no more 'real' papers. We used to work at the same place in the city.

The pay used to be better but no more. Now more hours, less money, grrrr.

I can understand why companies would want to know what media coverage they are getting but people and entertainers Has to be pure ego boosting for them Sorry to read you were laid off ten years ago.

That sounds interesting ST. What sorts of therapies did you specialise in for your work? Do you mean Reiki/Crystals/Aromatherapy/Colour therapy - all that sort of thing? I love anything like that.

Re: Your Occupation

I have quite a lot of jobs in my time.
I worked in 3 boarding kennels, done cleaning, cooking, care worker for 9 years, typist, barmaid, and shop work. Quite a variety, but at least I worked and didn't sit on my butt.

Re: Your Occupation

I was a high school teacher of English and History for most of my career but ended up in the last seven years as full time president of our teachers' union here in Tasmania. It was a huge challenge and learning curve but I loved it. Learnt a lot about standing up against bullying Principals and politicians.

In retirement I teach at our local U3A so am continuing to use my skills there. I also work past-time as a sub-editor at our state Hansard in parliament which I absolutely love - only three days a week when parliament is sitting but very well paid and very stimulating.

Very good. I once worked in a boarding kennel too. I always felt so sorry for the dogs & cats left there. I know people know that they'll be back to pick up their companions but the animals don't know that. Too bad we couldn't make them understand, they were so stressed, some of them.

Re: Your Occupation

Gracious, how boring am I. I am a claims intake representative. People call in (I work at home), and I enter claims for them: general liability, work comp, auto liability, property, leave, short-term disability, etc. That's all I do. Right now, for instance, the last call ended seven minutes ago. So I'm wandering aimlessly about the net, waiting for the next call.

I get off work in forty-one minutes.
