When he passed away it was fine by me. Time for him to go and his final year was not good.

My dad was 72. Had his first heart attack about 20 years previously and a transplant in August 1985. He was the oldest person at that time to have a heart transplant.

Lovely that you have nice memories of him, though. It would be sad if we didn't miss our parents. My father died suddenly in 1985, and my mother suffered a long drawn out illness for several years before dying 6 years ago.I know which way I would prefer to go...And I still miss them both.
