Re: Joe Cocker

Yes RIP but social media seems to make heroes of anyone who passes. It`s not like he was Paul Rogers or Jimmy Page.

So sad. I saw Joe back in I think 1976.

Re: Joe Cocker

Loved his gravelly voice, Delta Lady, always reminds me of working at a paint factory installing equipment, had eyes on one of the girls working here, and this was played several times a day over the Tannoy. RIP and ta for the music.

Very true I had heard of Joe and loved his voice never heard of the other two. So no contest.

Re: Joe Cocker

I shall be getting out one of his LPs (Cocker Happy?) later for a listen and a bit of maudlin nostalgia. He was a very good interpreter of other people's work.

Re: Joe Cocker

Just heard it announced prior to the 10pm news. Such a shame. He released a great single early in 2013...I remember Chris Evans playing it on the radio while I drove to work.
RIP.

I agree. The social media does seem to make heroes of anyone that passes. In this case though, I do think it is justified.

I sometimes think that the sign of a good artist is to be able to make a cover version of a song that is equal, if not better to the original. The better known the original is, the more difficult is the task. Joe Cocker did exactly that when he recorded his version of "With a Little help." Offhand, I can only think of one other artist that has matched or improved on a Beatles number.

RIP Joe.
