I don't bother with the news as it always seems to be bad. I've learned to remain pretty detatched from the outside world and instead concentrate on my family and friends. A bit lacking in compassion? maybe, but I don't lose any sleep over it.

We want to move to the Coast away from it all and walk sandy beaches with the dog and meet new happy friendly people and do the things we want to do without being told all the time. But yet we have still to retire.. We have a lot of idea's that we hope will go to plan.

Suzuki Sue, here's something to look forward to... My wife & daughter walking along our local beach during the Xmas holidays... Haven't got a dog, so they took some seaweed for a walk!
But in fact I just have to go to the end of my garden and this is what I see...

What a beautiful beach, is it on the Trip Advisor?We go to Hornsea in East Yorkshire a lovely little place between Bridlington and Withernsea. We stay in my Husband's parent's Caravan and hope to move there someday...
The beach at Hornsea isn't a sweeping wide beach like your's it has wooden fence's running up from the shore to the sea wall.

I lot of you said you avoid the news, etc, but if we don't pay attention to what is going on how can we learn what is going on and demand changes? Have we given up on wanting a better world? I don't want to be blissfully ignorant; but I don't want to be so frustrated at what I see going on around me.It's such a catch 22.

Suzuki Sue, Yes it is on Tripadvisor - see Fraserburgh beach. You'll notice that it's referred to as 'The Broch' from the Gaelic for a fortification.I've never seen the beach busy. A few dozen people is 'crowded' !
Many years ago, in the days of the railway, it was a very popular holiday resort, but now it's very quiet - even in mid-summer.
