Re: Guantanamo

They must be obliged to take back their own horrible citizens .
Of course being sensible they don't want terrorists back "
Only the stupid Uk takes in terrorists that weren't from there in the first place .

Surely it can't be beyond the special forces to airlift them to eg the Yemen and leave them there .

Re: Guantanamo

They have been held illegally that makes them the responsibility of the USA IMO.

Surely after so many years of legal residence on U.S. soil they will be awarded a Green Card? It's only fair.

Couldn't agree with you more.

Why do you insist on calling them horrible and terrorists. I must say, I dislike your description of men who've been imprisoned illegally, criminally tortured and have never been charged with any crime themselves. You ought to be ashamed calling men like British citizen Shaker Aamer such vile names.

Cuba is not run by the USA. Guantanamo is a tiny coastal enclave of Cuba.

Re: Guantanamo

Obama is trying desperately to leave some kind of legacy before he leaves power. He opened relations with Cuba, which in a sense is good, but many criticize the fact, that he gave much and got little in return. Now its the Guantanamo base, where he also wants to shut down before he leaves power. Cuba wants the base back, the Cuban community in Miami is pretty scared that he might just do that, to please once again Raul Castro, though his Secretary insists there are no plans to do that.

On March 21st Obama to solidify his legacy with Cuba, will travel to the Communist island to meet with Raul Castro and the Cuban people. He says that he will push for human rights, despite the fact that he has made no announcements that he plans on meeting with descendants.

I think this meeting of Obana with Raul Castro will be a lot to do about nothing. A simple public relations ploy. Where Raul Castro will continue boasting about what he calls Cuba's great human rights record. And Obama will smile it off like an asshole with nothing to show for the exile Cuban community in Miami
